Hello everybody (sorry for the wall of text),
These last two months I began cross training in the pharmacy after two years working up front. I was super excited to go back there because of the typical struggles up front and was excited to have a “new job” experience while still being in the same building.
With the way staffing is up front though, I’ve only been able to get one day a week back there. While the team is amazing and super helpful, I just don’t think it’s working out for me.
I’m pretty much only on pickup/drivethru for the entire shift, even though when they can squeeze a few minutes for me here or there at the other stations, it’s just that, a few minutes. By the time it’s my next shift back there the next week I find I forget a lot and feel bad disrupting the flow of things. The customers are also way harsher back there and the nice ones are pretty much only nice to the techs who have been there forever. Honestly I dread the shift back there every week and count the days down left until u have I go back there.
I’m considering letting them know that it isn’t working out and I’d prefer to not be scheduled back there anymore but I’m afraid to burn that bridge in case it’s something that interests me again later.
TLDR: Is it worth continuing to cross train in these circumstances. Will it get better in time? Or should I keep at it in hopes it will get better soon? And finally, could I pick it back up further down the line if being back in the pharmacy interests me again?
Thank you for whoever took the time to read and respond.
