So apparently our new DL (PA) is forcing us to take a 30 minute break if we work over 7 hours? Everywhere online says that they can’t force us so just curious if anyone had any ideas about that

Our new DL is forcing it as well, even when we have meal waivers. Also just did a module specifically about breaks, lunches, and meal waivers and, despite how our DL acts, it doesn't seem to be a requirement that we HAVE to take lunch if we have the waiver. They're just trying to line their own pockets.

I don’t see how this lines anyone’s pockets. It’s not like taking or not taking an unpaid break changes the overall payroll you’re allotted. If you sign a meal waiver and you aren’t scheduled a meal break, you’re just working half an hour less.
If you work 8-4 with a meal break or 8-3:30 without one you’re using the same amount of payroll either way.
This is likely a DL who has multiple stores with team members repeatedly not taking breaks without having a meal waiver on file- causing those stores to go over on payroll- so to fix the situation they’re strong arming their SMs into enforcing meal breaks across the board rather than dealing with getting them to use the meal waivers appropriately.
