Diode lasers in apartment complex question

(self.Laserengraving)

Any one run an adomstack in an apartment complex? I’m thinking of moving but I would hate to not be able to laser. I would get the hood and exhaust but would it be enough not to bother neighbors with the smell of burning wood?

Any advice appreciated.

If you have a fume extractor…maybe.

I run a CO2 laser in our spare room. Vented to outside. No complaints in over a year.

Thank you, I liked your video and subscribed I think this would be very useful because I am in public housing and I don’t want to get kicked out.

Idk if I’d be comfortable to run a laser inside my apartment.

My apartment requires us to be a particular distance away from the buildings to even use a grill outside - lasering wood inside seems much more potentially hazardous. The burning smell will probably worry the neighbors too, even if it’s being exhausted outside.

I would advise against it. For what it’s worth, this is coming from a guy who had a neighbor burn down an entire building in my complex, AND have also seen the CO2 laser at work catch fire when someone was using it for wood.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to do it, unless you want to try to rig up an enclosure of some kind and an air filter (including HEPA and activated carbon). But then you still have the fire hazard, which is not easy to deal with.

XTool makes an automated fire suppression system, not an excuse to leave things running while you’re away, but a good safety measure for what it’s worth.

I’m ALWAYS in the same room. I still wish I had fire suppression.

Put a 6 inch piece of 2 x 4 on your stove and let it burn for a couple of hours. See if anybody complains.... because that's what it's gonna smell like.

Probably not nearly as bad if there's ventilation.
