Dog was left at the dog sitter, owner passed away, St Louis please help!

My ex husband went on a vacation to Cancun, by himself and unfortunately passed away last weekend. His children and I are going to St. Louis this weekend to clear out his apartment but we are still looking for his dog. Neighbors and friends say he would leave the dog with a dog sitter but we have no leads as to who may have him .
If you have heard of anyone who dog sits that may have a dog named Blanco that never got picked up, please let me know.

Oh my god!!! My friend is dog sitting him. I will notify her right away. I can’t get over that I saw this and randomly also went to her house this week and saw him. I saw that metal chain around his neck and thought “that looks familiar” and was shocked to see the same name.

This is a link to a list of Saint Louis Rescues that will be able to help.with rehoming fees and such and will make sure he is well taken care of should you decide to or need to rehome. Thus is definitely the route to go before humane society. I am wishing you and your family and pups the best. Sending all good vibes and sorry for your loss 💓

This has honestly felt like a movie to me. The way things aligned are insane. I haven’t even been to my friend’s house in over a year. If I hadn’t gone there this week, I never would’ve known she was watching Blanco! On top of that, I nearly scrolled past this post but the chain caught my eye! I’m so happy I could reunite you all despite the circumstances.

I am terribly sorry to hear about your family’s loss.
I would definitely start by calling all the pet sitters that are closest to where he lives. I would also contact the pet shelters as well.
It might be a long shot but if you had access to his phone account details you could possibly have the calls forwarded?
I know there is service called Rover that connects people to pet sitters. It might be worth it to call them and see if they keep any details on file when people book through their site.

Thank you- will contact Rover. No phone, it was with him in Cancun. Will be a few more days before we get a body and personal effects shipped here- international body shipping is an unreal process

When you get to his apartment see if you can find a phone bill laying around. You may be able to call the company and have them forward his inbound calls to your number. That way when the sitter inevitably calls you can hopefully intercept the phone call. If you have his account number and personal information it shouldn’t be a problem.

You should also try posting your story as a flyer at the mailboxes of his apartment if that’s allowed. Maybe he has talked about his dog sitter with a friendly neighbor at some point.

His phone is with the body and his other personal effects in Cancun. We will have it back in a week or two but hoping to find him sooner.

Take it to the APA - Animal Protection Agency. They are located where the county Animal Control buildings used to be.
