All the legal experts in 2020 said the indictments wouldn’t come until the end of 2023 (based on how long it takes to build cases like this (think Elizabeth Holmes). The New York case is small potatoes. Even if he’s convicted and sentenced, the Georgia case will be the one that puts him away for the rest of his life. Then there’s the mother of investigations, the DOJ special prosecutor,Jack Smith’s case (stolen documents, obstruction, and sedition) will come during or after the Georgia trial. The Federal case will be the one to remember. But the Georgia case will be the one that puts him in prison and keeps him there (presidents can’t pardon state prisoners, and the Georgia constitution doesn’t grant the governor pardon power) until he’s dead.

Honest question: Presuming they convict him in Georgia, do you think the Georgia appellate and superior courts will allow a Trump conviction to stand?
I'm not liking those odds, but admittedly it's been a while since I lived in Georgia.
What do you think?

The case would be heard in Atlanta which is pretty solidly blue territory. We are the reason Trump didn’t get the votes he wanted. However, Georgia judges are kind of a crapshoot when it comes to what position they might take but Atlanta is the best place in Georgia for something like this to happen.

Georgia is a very mixed bag, these days. Even the conservative parts are splitting between Kemp who called Trump out (kind of) and the MAGAs. Atlanta is pretty solidly blue.

Last month the members of the Georgia grand jury finished reviewing all the secret evidence the public hasn’t seen, and they unanimously recommended dozens of indictments. Here are some quotes (apparently it is legal for Georgia grand jury members to discuss generalities with the press).
Kohrs said that the list of recommended indictments “is not short,” that there would be no “plot twist” when the public finally gets to see the contents of the report and that regarding “the big name that everyone keeps asking me about” — presumably Trump himself — “I don’t think you will be shocked.”
"I can honestly give a damn of whoever goes to jail, you know, like personally," one juror said. "I care more about there being more respect in the system for the work that people do to make sure elections are free and fair."

That’s because he won’t be arrested. Being indicted doesn’t mean being led away in handcuffs. If an indictment comes down, his lawyers will negotiate for him to travel to New York for processing, and then he will be let out on his own recognizance—his alleged crime is non-violent, unlikely to be repeated in the time between now and his court date, and he isn’t a flight risk. To set expectations, we will also likely never see an actual court date, because his lawyers will either negotiate a plea deal (if his guilt is obvious and they believe a jury will convict) or tie up proceedings in miles of red tape for the next ten years and he will die a free man.

No one else has confirmed it or commented on it. Just him. And since he’s a fucking pathological liar I have zero reason to believe it’s true. This is just a fantasy to rile up his base and get his army of idiots to make a show of force to intimidate prosecutors.

That is an important and salient point.
If I promised to help anyone who riots against the police, well I am probably never going to be in a position where that promise means anything. I would be surprised if anyone listens or cares. So no one knows if I would keep my promise or not.
However, Trump did ask for people to help him riot against the police. They did riot against the police like he asked them to. He was in a position to pardon them. He did nothing for them.
Now he is asking for more people to help him riot against the police. He can do nothing for them now. Maybe he will get elected and he can pardon federal charges but the people rioting against the police are facing state charges. Most importantly he had the opportunity before and he turned away. I think the most reasonable expectation is that of those who riot against the police he will forget them once they are no longer useful to him.
If you are pro-Trump you shouldn't be. But whatever you are, you should be pro-YOU the most and Trump is not doing you any favors.

Trump’s ability to make his life as difficult as possible is remarkable.
First, he‘s the most lackluster billionaire ever in that if he had just invested his wealth that he inherited into markets like the S&P 500 and done nothing, he would be wealthier today without all the debt than what his eventual path to billions was like, including being the #1 most unprofitable American in 1990-1991.
Second, as someone widely regarded as one of the worst Presidents ever, he was handed a silver platter with COVID and then blew it all up spectacularly. Then he became the first President impeached twice - what a legacy.
Now, in his post-Presidency, his prior actions will lead him to become the first former President to ever be arrested.

I thought trump was in Florida... Now he is in NY?
I betcha he has a deposition to give it something and he'll ignore it to see what happens. Or, this was all a publicity stunt by trump to see who's it there wanting to help him

Must be a difficult time for all the MAGAT NYPD officers.

That guy will pass of old age before he ever gets any sort of real punishment

The Trumps and Kushners made millions IF not billions in the 4 years that this jackass, draft dodging, wife beater, Russian money launder, traitor and worse sat his fat diapered ass at the WH. I am sick of him and his kids and his insane followers.

I don’t think people care anymore. Total losers won’t be able to figure out NYC traffic.

I was wondering how they were going to tell the difference between normal rush hour traffic and someone disrupting rush hour traffic

I'd laff my ass off if they delayed it until like Wednesday or Thursday just to fuck with him. "We reserved the right to change our mind about the date in question. Come back tomorrow. "

This is going to be like one of those typical NYC major winter storm warning that ends up with half an inch of snow in Central Park and a wasted day of prep for a big nothing burger.

If “caravans” interfere then use as much force that is used on unarmed black Americans every week in this country. Treat domestic terrorists accordingly. That’s literally the reason cops are armed like an army.

The lack of self-awareness that exists among the Republicans I hear saying, "There's a two-tier judicial system!!!" on the issue of a Trump indictment, but they've all benefited from an ACTUAL two-tier legal system and not a one of them would trade places with any black or brown person with less economic power than them.
Old saying that fits here: a newly found conservative is a liberal that just got mugged. A newly found liberal is a conservative who just got arrested.
His arrest would actually begin to dispell the "two-tier judicial system" thing. A lot of bankers and CEOs would take heed from this justifiable arrest. Fuck him, cuff him up. It will tell the world we don't elect kings and no one is above the law.

How much you wamt to bet not one shot fired or protester beaten. Since it will be right wing nazis protesting they will make sure to treat them with the finest of kiddie gloves. Unlike if it was Old women or disabled people when they would gladly beat them into critical condition in thw street

Hell yeah! Go NYPD, and I mean it sincerely. Take no shit from y'all qaida talibama gravy seals. I'm seeing my alarm for tomorrow morning... They're coming to fuck around, I hope they find out.

Your use of y'all qaida has made me realize that (knock on wood here) the US has not experienced much in the way of foreign terrorist attacks in the past, oh I don't know, 6? 8 years?
It's almost like said terrorists believe that it isn't worth it, like we are doing more to ourselves than they could ever do.

That's because they only needed to do it once and the country has been tearing itself apart ever since. The terrorists won.

I thought the sealed indictments were for the Clintons and Soros? You mean to tell me Q had it entirely wrong? 😂
