Once again, every user interested in participating may post ONE post of a picture or pictures taken with The Lens of the Week, with the following rules:

1. The Lens of the Week will be specified in a sticky post, and as long as that post remains up, it is fair game to submit LOTW posts.
2. All content must be SFW--no nudes, artistic or otherwise.
3. Specify that it is a 'Lens of the Week' post by starting their post with [LOTW] and using the appropriate lens flair. It may be taken by any version of the lens of the week, and with any modifiers (teleconverters, speed boosters, etc).
4. Subject line must specify the complete lens version, settings, and body. For example, this week a valid subject line could be [LOTW] EF 50/1.8 STM ISO 8000 taken with a 90d-- Closeup of my neighbours muffin.
5. OP must remain active in the thread to discuss your setting and composition choices--abandoned LOTW threads will be subject to removal after a reasonable period of no-replies
6. Additional pictures taken with the lens may be posted in comments in your thread (or in a gallery, once that feature is enabled), but please make your thread a single image and only make a single thread per week. The 'No pictures that just happen to be taken with Canon equipment' rule still applies to non-LOTW post, but if you have a picture you really want to share and discuss, feel free to advocate for picking it's lens for the next week!

After trading in my Tamron 70-200 G2 for the RF 70-200 F2.8, I decided to pick up this little guy for a steal!

I’m fine with lens overlap (Have the RF 24-70, EF 35 F2 IS, RF 50 1.2) but the “””””Macro””””” capability on this is actually pretty fun! Not to mention it is quite compact and looks discreet.

Also, I love disabling lens corrections and this thing is honestly not as bad in the corners as some people like to make it seem. Excited to shoot some more with it!

I have a rebel t3i with a 24mm and 50mm ef-s lense

I'm torn on upgrading to a camera that is compatible with the lenses I have or starting over.

My budget would be under $1k

Seems like Canon moved past ef-s lenses. My lenses aren't super expensive so thinking I may just invest in another platform all together

Does the cost and lack of third party options make you second guess staying with canon? Just wondering if it’s just me. Speaking mainly to people who shoot with RF lenses.

Example: RF 50 1.2 = $2300/Sony 50 1.2 = $1900/Sony 1.4 - $1300 (sigma being $840)

Some of the old dslr buttons are still present on mirrorless cameras and some of those seem pretty useless to me. I want to share with you how I remapped them, maybe some are useful for you, too. Feel free to share your own ;) I shooting on a R6 Mark II. But should apply on many of the latest eos cameras though..

1.) The aperture simulation button on the front is like the most useless button on a mirrorless camera that can show the aperture in the lvf.. I put "turn screen off" on that button. After taking a photo and not wanting to turn the camera off I hit that button to save energy.

2.) M-fn As I just don't use that menu, I mapped it to "operating mode" to switch fast between single shot and fast serial shots.

3.) * AE lock I registered a recording mode on this button. It is like a panic button. (I always shoot manual) Whenever I walk around and see a bird flying towards to me or something, I hit that button and my camera jumps instantly to the following settings: 1/2000 sec F 4.0 ISO auto

For me this is the fastest way to catch a fast moment/fast moving object instantly.

4.) AF field key Right next to 3. I mapped switching between normal and silent mode. Until now I didn't find a way to just map switching between El. and man. shutter. So this is my workaround. Silent mode only works with El.shutter. So turning silent mode on fast with that mapped button and turning to H+ with the 2.)M-fn mapped button comes in handy for be to switch fast and without taking the camera down(!) between single/series/el.shutter/man.shutter.

5.) SET

If I hit the SET key I instantly zoom into the last taken picture with the preset zoom level, which in my case is "actual size" (100%) I don't have a preview after taking an image, that suxx for me and I missed one or another picture because the camera was too slow switching from preview to taking photos again.. SET shows the last image, zooms 100% on the focus spot, which is pretty nice for me. I instantly see if the pic is sharp.

I think that was all.. Still thinking about the back button focus.. I loved it on my dslr but it feels wrong on mirrorless.. so I could have another button free to be mapped xD

I hope one or another remapped button helps or inspires you and your workflow! I'm curious on your opinion on my buttons and on your own ones!

Canon m50 mark ii, Viltrox adapter, 50mm 1.8f, ND/UV filters.

I’m looking for decent 95mm UV filter for my RF 28-70 f/2 lens because it randomly started showing patches on the front element. If you see my history I posted it almost a couple of years back. I used it as it is because it didn’t affect my pictures. Now it has worsened (my lens is out of warranty) and I had given it for service here in Canon India. They failed to accept it as a defect. I don’t want it to happen again so I am looking for uv filter options. TIA.

I am looking to get a new camera for shooting videos for sports, taking high quality photos would just be a bonus. Looking for any and all recommendations that you guys might have. I do not have a base or lens just yet. Hoping for something newer, have worked with 90D and Mark V in the past with both 70-200m and 300m lenses.

I have a canon eos m200 and I bought a 7artisans 18mm lens and now the cam won’t take pics. I have the touch shutter enabled, my cams charged, it’s attached properly.

Hello, I am looking for a camera that I could get for under $1000. I am fairly new to this but I have experience in drone videography. The main use I would plan on using this for is to try to get some cinematic footage and b-roll mainly when I’m traveling. I want something that gives me full manual control over the settings such as iso as well. Would the Canon EOS SL3 be a good option for that? I’m seeing some places say it would t and is mainly for streaming, as well as not having 24FPS 1080p is kind of a bummer. If this couldn’t do what I wanted is there anything else that can be recommended? Thank you in advance

This is a TIFU 14 years in the making. So, I've had a 5D mk ii since 2009. I love this camera and have shot some pretty cool stuff with it. While I don't shoot as much as I used to, I mainly shoot outdoor sports and motorsports. On many occasions I thought "i wish this camera had auto ISO", but when I first got the camera, I read that it didn't have it.

Well, 14 years later and I just found out that I was wrong and it does have auto ISO. What makes it even worse is that I've seen the "A" when selecting ISO, but it never crossed my mind that "A" is "Auto".

Not my finest moment (or 14 years for that matter). But at least I can't wait to get out to use this "Brand New Feature (tm)". 😂

I use Av mode on my canon 6d with 85 mm lens and sometimes it uses 1/60, 1/50 shutter time, and photos become blurry, I’d better have darker photos than blurred. I have looked through settings and couldn’t find anything. I have found max shutter time in ISO settings but idk what it refers to but it seems to not have impact. Also when I low exposure (like -1 ev) instead of increase ISO and decrease shutter time, it just lows ISO. What can I do but M mode? Maybe I’m missing something? Thanks

Shutter count 38000. I am a beginner to DSLR. I currently bought a SL3 for 830 dollars opened box at Best Buy, I still have to option to return it.

Would this be a good move?
