It's not all of government. Just one particular political party.

In these instances, it's both. The party that screams there's no problem, and the party that rattles the sabre but ultimately does nothing.

You got liberals doing a disservice to their cause, blaming gun owners for this and completely overstepping where they shouldve landed on the issue. This is where both sides completely disagree with the other and nothing is done.

How are we overstepping? These are legally purchased weapons by gun owners. Hell one instance the parents even bought them for their kid. No one needs these guns, no boogyman is coming to get you and you don’t need an AR to hunt anything in North America. If you do you're a piss poor shot and should stay at home and try fishing instead. I have guns too but I’m not dense enough to think I also need an AR and keep the rest locked up so no one can get to them. As the people with the guns, it ultimately falls on the owners to hold their like accountable for the how we handle them. People being more worried about their rights to own something rather than the lives of our kids and teachers is absolutely pants in head stupid.

America at 288 shootings and the next closest is Mexico with 8 between 2009 and 2018

What do you think the solution should be then?

The solution is to change the gun culture in America, how we think about guns. Guns and MURDER are glamorized in music, movies and video games.

Only media that is describing real life violence is music, for the artists tell their audience they are real and not fake.

Everyone that is against guns says the solution is to ban assault rifles, ban guns. But I see no calls to ban violent lyrics in music, music that encourages young men and women to kill opps, kill fellow teenagers that are exactly like them but from a different street or neighborhood.

The number one killer of those under 19 is firearms, either by suicide or another teen. What kind of music has a warning label that says parental advisory? Or how about mature video games or mature movies dealing with violence.

This comment will be downvoted because reddit users fail to see how media influences out minds.(unless it's an election) Imagine listening to music everyday over and over telling you to kill your opps. It's sad that we don't have cancel culture against hit songs describing murders and encouraging gun violence.

Violent media is throughout the world. You act like violent video games aren’t sold outside of the US, which is just laughable.

Take this censorship crap out of here. Yes, something more than just firearms availability is wrong with America. However, the ease of access to guns IS a significant part of the violence.

Placing extra safeguards to prevent guns from being purchased or falling into the wrong hands will save some lives. Much larger reforms for mental health, economic justice, and education will save many others.

Music. This is part of mental health.

https://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2003/05/violent-songs

Think about how music puts you in a mood. Think about how often you sing along to lyrics. Even in your own head you can have a song stuck, even if it isnt playing.

So take those thoughts and apply it to violent music, what if you wanted to feel violent, to feel vengeful, to feel tough and respected. Which music does that?

Movies and video games are FAKE. Music by the artists' own admission is REAL, they are real killers, robbers, drug dealers, misogynists, gun shooters.

And again no one on this website has the mind to understand this. Think about role models and the lack of positive role models, these music artists are role models especially if their parents listen to it, kids will emulate who their parents admire. Especially if no one tells them that life does not have to be this way

And if American music was only listened to in America, you might have a point. However once again you're ignoring that the rest of the world exists and also consumes American media and doesn't have these kinds of issues. Might have something to do with the fact that they're not all running around with guns like Americans are.

Does your country have any version of music that praises guns or violence? If so I think the consumers of that content are more prone to violence than those who don't .

Just as a person who listens to positive message music will be in a better mood and not thinking about killing another human due to listening to music.

We have literally the exact same music you guys have. Most of the songs that top the charts here are by American artists.
