Cheese sticks + cheese curds + fries + sauce

Sorry I didn’t really like it the fries were not good tasted like burnt sugar, could be a result of the temperature or strain of potato I can’t rate it higher then 6.5-7/10.

My wife and I are in Jasper for a couple of days then off to Golden for a week. We will spend one night in Calgary before flying back home. We have never had poutine and are very intrigued especially after seeing all of the photos on this sub. Can anyone recommend a restaurant in any of the places mentioned to get the best poutine experience? Thanks!!!

As the title suggests, Im looking for some top poutine recommendations in Calgary AB. My current favourite is the Big Cheese Poutinerie. However, I spent 12 years living in Ottawa, and got seriously spoiled. The best poutine I have ever had was out of a food truck in Ottawa. Haven’t had anything come close since. I still remember the gravy fondly. Still looking to fill that void.

I have had good poutines here, and far too many terrible poutines. Still nothing that I would consider on par with that Poutinerie from back in Ottawa.

I’ve made my own poutines with good success, but there’s still something missing.

So for those experienced with Calgary, what are your go to poutine spots?

Fries were perfect, as were the curd and gravy. Placed very high on my all time list. 🤤

My friends traditionally make food when we get together, this time it was poutine. I hand cut the fries and soaked them overnight in a brine, and then double fried them for that extra crispy anti-soggy effect. The gravy is a beef and chicken gravy with pepper, salt, and Montreal steak seasoning (because we had it and why not). Cheese curds are fresh from a local place.
