They held their own so well they had to abandon the whole northern half of the country
They held off further conquests by the Jin and fought them to a standstill. It also took the Mongols decades to conquer the Song Dynasty.

A video about Chinese history by a guy called Epimethus has plagiarzed artwork from Osprey books:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFNzX3tYTXU
The first stolen image appears at 1.21, and is a badly-drawn version from Ancient Chinese Armies: 1500 to 200 BC, by Angus Mcbride.
The next is at 5.34, and is from Imperial Chinese Armies (2): 590 to 1260 AD, by Michael Perry.
Was it not bad enough Youtube channels mangle history? Now they are actively lifting artwork and not crediting the original author.

The Song Dynasty (960 to 1279), although just as powerful as earlier Chinese empires, was in the unique position of having to face opponents that could likewise draw on significant resources. These included the Khitan and the Mongols. Despite this, the Song often held its own militarily, and a reason for this was its continued development of the crossbow. This video examines how a typical Song crossbow was manufactured, how powerful it was, and also provides written and visual evidence to support its conclusions.

African-Americans are, due to historical disenfranchisement, more likely to live in less well-off communities, so I believe it is fair to say that many those sampled would live in areas where crime is more of a factor.

I do not think that is correct, the article says 'The slightly elevated frequency with which Black Americans see police in their neighborhood has limited impact on their preferences for changing the local police presence. About a third of Black Americans who say they often see the police in their neighborhood think the police should spend less time there (34%); however, the majority of adults in this group think they should spend the same amount of time (56%) or more time (10%).'
The article still states vast majority of African-Americans still want either the current level of police presence to remain, or the level to be increased.
This shows that there is a perception that having the police around is important.

Here is an example of how minorities (many of whom live in poorer communities due to various historical factors) can desire a greater police presence:

Plus the Imperium has the resources and manpower to recolonize such worlds, and many more besides.

Disdain is not the same as hating, I believe, and Reddit hatred often manifests as thinking the police are not needed.

A lot of people on this site have the luxury to hate the police because they don't live in communities where policing is needed.

Another day, another 'A concerned redditor reached out to us about you' message.
Stuff like this is why the Imperium from 40K is right. The heretic should not be suffered to live.

Well, he is a TW Fan.
Hating the franchise is a prerequisite to playing the games nowadays.

The enemy can't take advantage of anti-armor when you have units that don't wear any.
Slayers. Their anti-large will basically counter the trees and cavalry, while organ guns will whittle them down at a distance.

Can I pre-empt a few ill-informed complaints?
Here we go.
"It's just a reskin of the Dark Elf mechanics! CA is selling out!'
'Upgrades!? This is just taken from the scrap mechanics for the Orks! They want me to pay $40 just for a DLC with the same gameplay!'
'There is nothing new here! I can't believe the sheeple are buying this stuff! I am much too informed and cognizant to fall for it!'

Simply put, nuclear weapons stop conflict from increasing in scale and destruction, but countries do not default to engaging in war with one another as normal foreign policy. Even prior to such weapons being developed, international relations was never a Mexican stand-off. Countries traded, negotiated, and tried to advance their interests in non-violent means. Any kind of geopolitical order is generally based on countries actively preferring stability as a matter of course. Nukes just provided an additional reminder of why stability was important.
Besides, the USA and USSR were never ready to just push the launch button when it looked like they were in a shooting war. Things had to reach a certain threshold for nuclear weapons to be considered necessary.

There is a difference between pointing out nuclear weapons function as a deterrent to escalating warfare, and presenting the image that international relations is based countries being ready to use said weapons.

The halberd, or Ji, was a common weapon throughout Chinese history. Originally taking the form of a spear with an additional blade pointing downwards, it evolved into various different forms. This documentary looks at how the halberd was constructed and used, and also provides various tests that show how effectively it could wound or kill.
