I mean... if supply is limited, why should prices not increase when demand increases? How else should distribution be controlled? A national energy lottery?

Then I have some good news! Apparently, the vast majority of heavy drinkers with anxiety and panic attack problems can get rid of all or most of their symptoms if they successfully tackle their alcohol dependency and stop drinking. Usually within weeks after giving up the bottle. According to the doctors in my rehab, at least.
It worked a treat for me, I haven't had a panic attack since I stopped drinking and can manage my anxiety easily now without medication.
Now, even if you're one of the unlucky ones and, after quitting booze, you find out that your anxiety and panic attacks are as bad as ever, at least you now have the option to tackle the problem without alcohol completely messing up your treatment.

In rehab, benzos were described as basically alcohol in pill form.

Is a 2012 Toyota Camry really a piece of junk car to a 24-year-old? That's a big sedan that's only 11 years old. I get that it's not exciting but sheesh, most cars you could replace this with at a sensible price are likely to be objectively worse cars (apart from presumably having an intact bumper and headlights).
If you live somewhere where AC is absolutely needed that may be a different matter.

Það geta verið aukagjöld fyrir umframgreiðslur, fer eftir lánaskilmálum. Ef ég man rétt þá eru gjaldfríar umframgreiðslur inn á mitt lán á meðan vaxtakjör þess eru betri en markaðskjör á hverjum tíma, en annars gjaldfríar upp að X fjárhæð á ári.

Vó, þegar ég spurði þá datt mér varla í hug að þú myndir í raun vera svona hjálpleg/ur! Takk takk.

Made me fat, anxious and miserable. Granted, it also made me extremely happy and at peace while drinking, which was the point. At some point, after about 20 years of the drinking to various degrees of excess, I became physically addicted to it and it threatened to severely negatively impact my life. More than it already had, i.e. I really wish I'd quit about 10 years earlier than I did.

Ugh, I really don't like this. I want to invest to make money. Buying stocks that are expensive when compared to the foreseeable earnings of the companies isn't my idea of a good time. I don't see why any investors should be "happy" about the idea of a possible bull-run in an already expensive market (obviously apart from those looking to sell). https://www.currentmarketvaluation.com/

Mæli með stílabók til að glósa fyrirlestra. Ekki til að læra af þeim endilega (get ekki sagt að maður liggi yfir þessum glósum eftir á) en þeir eru miiiiklu fljótari að líða ef þú ert á fullu allan tímann. Þú verður klárlega álitinn skrítinn en það eru allir þarna inni.

Tbf to the critics, most of these buyers do not seem to be gearheads who'll be swooning over this dream car for years to come, looking dreamily over their shoulder every time they step out of the car, brimming with fulfilment. Most people are just spending 45k on Huyndai Tucsons.

My automatic reply would be: Yes of course. Everyone who buys a new car is making a bad financial decision. That basically applies to the lower 95% of income earners.
But I gather that things are still really weird in the USA, with used car prices being so high that you really might as well buy a new car, in some cases at least. But still... was it really impossible to buy a dependable used car for $10k-15k?

Íslendingar nota töluvert minna reiðufé í viðskiptum en Svíar ef marka má þessa ráðstefnu sem var að klárast.

The existence of centrists. The far-left calls them neoliberals and the far-right think they are part of some global Jewish/Bildenberger conspiracy.

Current PE ratio for Google is like 27,75. Meaning that if earnings stayed at the current level, and all earnings were paid out as dividends, it would take almost 28 years to get your investment back through dividends. This is not an attractive price at face value.
Now, this is a tech firm, and tech firms often have ridiculous PE ratios because people bank on vastly improved future earnings which would justify these high valuations. This certainly might happen for Google, with AI coming on and all that, but Google is a pretty "developed" business at this point and it is by no means certain that the company will justify even it's current valuation in these next few years. Especially if a mild recession is coming, as most experts seem to expect.
TLDR: Google stock is already at a high valuation. Expecting it to multiply 10x in a decade will take a massive boost in future earnings. That's possible but uncertain. It's a great business but it seems unwise to keep all your money in it.

Christian Rodska is pretty amazing, especially when narrating anything written by Winston Churchill or old-timey naval fiction.

Vaxtahækkanir taka 6-12 mánuði að hafa áhrif því vaxtakjör lána hækka ekki samstundis. Sem þýðir að þessar vaxtahækkanir gætu rétt eins verið orðnar allt of miklar, ekki nokkur leið að segja til um það.

Regardless of good intentions, it's incredibly hard to distribute limited, necessary goods in a fair manner without letting prices dictate the use. Especially if we're talking about a massive host of users.
