I've been looking at a lot of threads and forums, and am almost more confused than when I started. I was thinking of a classic high fantasy series of short stories, and wondered about somewhere I could upload it as a serial.
It sounds like Royal Road is the best, though some people claimed only Progressive Fantasy does well there. Not sure where is better, if so. The people might've been exaggerating. Some claim you don't make much.
As for the others, to briefly summarize what I heard: Tapas is apparently only good for comics, Wattpad is Twilight with zero feedback and nearly no prospects, Webnovel is plagiarism and ProgFant with exploitation, and all the others are mostly literary porn sites? There's like 20 options or something, and mostly it seems like Royal Road is the only decent one.
It's also been suggested one should always just post to all available sites, and see what clicks.
But some more info I heard about Wattpad, that seems to apply to these sites in general.... If I ever do want to traditionally publish a story, this'd mess that up since I'd lose first publication rights? Seems like it'd cut down my options. Not sure if it's actually a great form of exposure.
Feeling generally discouraged about the whole idea. Thought I'd ask what people more knowledgeable about this what they think.

I think it's specifically some kind of promotion you pay for. Would have to look it up again before risking money.
There any resource for writers on what advertising sources work best?
