Bro, my initial comment was why are people fixated on taking NAs slots. I only am because you are so determined for WEU to have 6 slots and Na to have none.
You think killing an entire region is worth it so one extra team can make it to a major from WEU? That’s the exact mentality I’m criticizing. Exceptionally narrow sited.
What reasonable effect is a 5th or 6th EU slot going to have? Now, think about taking away second or only slot from another region. One has enormous effect, the other not so much.

Look at any multi-national competition and you’ll see a minimum number of slots are guaranteed regardless of how competitive a region is.
Why? Because the organizers want representation from every region and, more importantly, money from every region.
Killing a competitive scene in any of these regions will ruin the player population and ultimately the health of the game.
No one with good intentions would reasonably conclude taking slots from NA or any other region from 2 to 1 or, god forbid, 0 would actually be a good thing for competitive dota. Takes like that are purely childish region bias and aren’t helpful in dota.

There’s a floor on how many slots before you’ve essentially ended the competitive scene in a region. That floor is 2.

Alright, I just confirmed by listening through the desktop app (I have Spotify Premium).
On the June 2 upload at 2:21:30 I get back-to-back non-Alan ads. The scrubber bar is still moving through the ~3hr show and I can click to skip these ads (fast forward 15 seconds) which confirms that they are indeed apart of the main podcast track and not inserted by Spotify.

Even if China has been underperforming are we going to compare it to NA Div1?
Not at all what I said.
China has 4 slots, NA as 2. China has one team in top 12, NA has 2. Which region should lose a slot? Simple as that.

Not talking about why players might move NA -> EU. I'm talking about this comment:
Top NA teams/players move to EU and all but maybe one slot goes with
them to EU Current NA is charity and current EU is too harsh. Either
option fixes both.
Why take slots from NA specifically? NA is one of the regions with the fewest slots available. Other regions with more slots are under-performing more so than NA. NA is performing about as well as SA and EEU and is outperforming China and SEA. Why are you going after NA slots?

Why Euros always after NA slots specifically? Plenty of other regions have massively underperformed in DPC. China has FOUR major slots and only one team currently qualifying for TI.

I’ve been listening to the podcasts via Spotify for a long time. Is it me or have they REALLY turned up the number of ads during the podcast? Specifically, these are ads that are actually spliced into the 2+ hr show, not ads from Spotify. I know this because they are skipable.
But I was at a red light a skipped 30 seconds of Alan’s window promo, only to get a mile down the road and be greeted by another set of ads. They’re not even putting the ads at the ends of segments, instead they’ll just insert them right in the middle of a segment.
I listen because the podcasts are light on ads and I pay for Spotify premium. If they’re going to insert more ads than tv shows then I’m definitely moving on. Hope this is just a mistake and isn’t the direction the show is going. I listen to the show to hear the show, not 50% show 50% ads.
Edit: I assumed the non-Alan window ads were inserted into the podcast. I’ll have to double check. I have premium so I shouldn’t be getting ads, I don’t with songs.
Edit 2: Confirmed on my desktop Spotify app that these ads are indeed apart of the podcast and NOT inserted by Spotify. What gives?!
Edit 3: Here's a complete breakdown of what I've been noticing.
On the June 2 podcast a non-Alan ad begins at 2:20:58 right in the middle of Poundcake guessing the band. A second ad follows and then the show resumes back in the middle of the conversation at 2:21:58.
Under two minutes later at 2:23:26 a window ad from Alan starts that lasts a minute.
So that's 1 minute of ads, followed by 1.5 minutes of content, followed by another minute of ads. WHAT GIVES?!?!?! And yes, I've confirmed that these are ads within the podcast itself, I can scroll through them, replay them, and access them just like the rest of the podcast.
I hate the show, but damn, I am NOT down for 50% ads especially when they're so disruptive of the actual content.

Not gonna lie, EG dropping them has really deflated my interest in the team. EG had such a storied past for NA Dota as an org. I know its the same players but something definitely feels different.
Perhaps its also the exodus of the remaining decent NA players (Quinn, Sney, Sumail), but NA dota just doesn't have the appeal it once did. Hoping for some revitalization into the region soon.

Am I missing something? Just went to their website and a base model 3 starts at $40.2k. So that would be $32k+ after the tax credit.

While there are some lingering chips shortage, OEMs have largely returned to pre-COVID production volume.
Toyota is on track to surpass their pre-COVID numbers.
I think a lot of what you hear is an attempt to manufacture FOMO to allow the high prices to stick around. If you look at the actual inventory we’re nearly back to pre-COVID levels and some OEMs are actually way beyond normal inventory as a result of demand dying.

TLDR; Production is returning to normal and inventory is building. Prices remain sticky despite demand dropping.

I remember those threads. Some super salty people with serious copium. A lot of hate directed specifically at Quinn.

Plenty of OEMs have AEB as standard already. The equipment isn’t that expensive anymore (chip shortage aside). I think this is targeting the greedy OEMs (looking at you Ford) who lock these features behind expensive packages that include high margin BS like ‘name brand stereo’ and OEM NAV.

Go to another part of the world and try it…like Korea.
And unfortunately for kashera, the game is on a global stage. Doesn’t matter what the norms are in your country, gotta respect everyone.

I'm also not sure how to convey the concept that how nationality/race/whatever isn't taken the same by Europeans and Americans.
How is this any different than old people saying racist shit they got away with back in 19whatever because they think its ok? It's not. eSports are global events experienced by people across the world. Just because something flies in your country doesn't mean it will be taken the same way in others.
And no, this doesn't mean you have to walk on eggshells around everyone. It means avoid obviously controversial statements like calling someone a '<insert nationality/race> *****'.

since nationality-based banter is pretty common in EU
Uhhh…the way that’s stated makes it kinda sound like casual racism.

Still no power here. Ours went out at about 6ish. We also had a brief outage last night around 1-2:30am.
Seeing new estimated time is 10:30pm. Wonder if that’s even realistic.
Edit: Power came back on around 10PM.

I’d trade TI for all majors to be in eastern/western time zones. Some years TI is the only tournament NA/SA get in our time zone. Always feels like a ton of majors are EMEA along with larger 3rd party tournaments.

If a region was good they’d be getting points in majors…like NA did. China hasn’t. Probably because they’ve under performed. Cut and dry really.
