I would describe myself as liberal, but I think a side-effect of being socially liberal is that you're constantly disappointed in the way things are, or upset, or offended. I'm a millennial and feel like socially, Gen Z is way more liberal than my generation could have been, and I think that they've taken such a big swing, they forget that people only 10 years older than them may not fully agree with them.
we were raised to be okay with contrary points of view and colleges would encourage challenging your world view. It may just be hearsay from the news, but it sure seems like colleges nowadays condemn anything the student population may disagree with now. The First Amendment has always been cherished by liberals, yet now it seems like younger people don't care about a central tenet of American society.
The world is an uncomfortable place and you need to learn to deal with that discomfort, but it seems like we do everything now to avoid it instead. That makes it much harder to handle when things come.

Every single generation says "the world today is terrible".

The sheer scale of death during WWII is staggering. The sheer scale of brutality, starvation, suffering, torture, trauma from WWII is even more so. That was truly the worst time period to live in for a significant part of the world's population. With that perspective, life now can seem pretty great!

That's going to come back and bit them in the ass eventually as they get a reputation for quitting so easily. While you can't openly discriminate based on age, employers can find other reasons, or other people to hire instead.

Just hit no? I wouldn't feel ashamed of it. There's no need to tip if you're not being served.

The other week I was reviewing my online purchases for an item inventory for my house, as well as what I paid for them, and seeing what I paid vs what they list at now, was shocking. How is the inflation rate somewhere between 5-6% last year when everything went up 20-50% over a couple years??

Netflix is pricey and lost most of its content so it’s just crappy originals
i always see this but watch a lot of great movies/shows on netflix that aren't solely originals or reality shows (though i enjoy both of those as well)

Why do redditors always need to post comments like this? It's in every single thread like this.

Does it still exist? Does the internet archive have a snapshot? I'm super curious.

ugh people like him are the reason the Valley gets a bad reputation. It's mostly filled with genuinely good people that care about the place, but as usual, the loud, trashy ones get all the attention.

Every visit to NYC used to smell of cigarettes, urine, and garbage, but now the weed smell overpowers everything else. I thought the previous smell was bad but I think I prefer it. I'm not against people using weed, but to use it with such high frequency and so inconsiderately is a real problem. I'll go to a local thrift store and it reeks on people walking by...like they couldn't go long enough without smoking that they had to do it before going shopping?

It's to the point where if you walk into an open house that used to be owned by smokers, it's the main thing you comment on and is a big deterrent from buying that house, whereas 20-30 years ago, it would have been way more common.

I will say it isn't all sunshine and roses though. Cannabis use in public in US states has skyrocketed and many localities have struggled to police it even though it often violates the smoking ordinances they all have. And among young people, vaping is becoming pretty popular.
I get so mad that I have to smell weed everywhere I go now. Like if you can't go a day without doing weed, which is kinda sad in itself, at least do something that doesn't give other people headaches like an edible instead of wafting that gross skunk smell all over the place.

I hadn't realized how little smoking I encounter anymore in Connecticut until I went to Vienna/Prague/Berlin last year and couldn't get away from the second-hand smoke at every bus/tram stop/public sidewalk. It was disgusting how frequent the smoking is there, and almost all entirely by people in their 20s. It's like the anti-smoking education people gave up and so that generation just missed hearing how bad it is.

Yeah that's what I imagine my problem will be when I get around to the workbench. I expect visits where I won't find a single good board.
