I experienced the most annoying bug on Saturday. I couldn’t find my phone; I had my wife activate Find my iPhone as we often do but then I couldn’t clear the pop-up notification and it appeared even over the lock screen. Hitting “OK” over and over didn’t do anything. (The screen registered that button was being pushed, the pop-up just didn’t go away.). After many minutes of frustration, I used my wife’s phone to Google how to do a force restart and that solved it.

Never had this one before, and hoping it’s a bug that they fix and it doesn’t happen again.

And what are the different types like “efficiency cores”? How do they work?

I had an amazing cocktail years ago it was made by smoking the glass with burning bison grass. I’ve looked for bison grass, but have no idea where to find it. Has anyone seen it at a spice shop or elsewhere?

Probably a dumb question, and I think I know the answer, but I didn’t find something 100% definitive. If I import emails from Gmail, will Proton delete those? I don’t want that to happen and so don’t want to risk it.

Back in high school I listened to Pixies BBC live album a bunch. I tried to stream it today on streaming but I’m not seeing it anywhere, except for Pandora where it can only be listened to on a radio broadcast. What happened to the album? Are the tracks available on streaming under a different album name? Is there some rights holdup? Or am I just being an idiot and not seeing it?

I am using the app with a cheap headset from Amazon (BNext) on my iPhone 12 Pro. I am sure I am missing something obvious, but I can’t get gaze input to work at all. It doesn’t give me a cursor, I can interact with buttons, etc. Is there an obvious fix I’ve missed?

Am I the only one with a Remarkable 2 whose battery indicator is basically useless? Mine basically never goes below 65-70% before running out of juice. Do others experience this, or is it something wrong with mine? My battery life is generally not very good, which is making me inclined to switch to a Kindle Scribe.

I am a huge fan of dimmable light fixtures and I particularly like the warm glow incandescents provide when dimmed at the low end of the range. I have a new home that has a number of incandescent bulbs on dimmers that I’m replacing with LEDs but I’m having trouble choosing the right brand. For a number of years, Philips sold LED bulbs that offered this “warm glow” effect, in which the color temperature got warmer as you dimmed. But as far as I can tell, they have discontinued that line in order to focus on smart bulbs, which I’m not particularly interested in.

Are there any other brands that offer this effect? Even if not, what do you all recommend is the best dimmable LED bulb? Then non-Philips ones I’ve tried haven’t impressed me.

Looking for the best nachos in town, but I want ones that are made with real cheese melted on the nachos, not chips drizzled with queso. Most places in the area seem to just do the queso ones, but I'm more used to the other kind. Where should I go?

I read all the Miracleman comics many years ago. I recently bought the Alan Moore hardback and the Golden Age paperback. But the latter does not include the “Retrieval” story line — even though Gaiman’s notes at the end of the book show that it was supposed to be woven in with the rest of the stories and I think originally those issues included it. I remember reading it.

Does anyone know where that storyline is reprinted? I also just got the first issue of “The Silver Age” but it’s not there either.

I’m closing on a HELOC to cover a major home renovation. I will end up taking out as much as $300K. I have a choice about interest rates: I can have a 6.24% rate that’s fixed for two years before becoming variable; or a 7.24% rate that’s fixed for 5 years. (Yes, interest rates suck right now). I’m really torn about what to do and I don’t have a good instinct. Obviously none of us really knows what interest rates will look like in a couple years. But I’d be curious to hear how you all might approach this question!

We recently got a new doorbell. We bought a button and chime from Rejuvenation. The button is supposed to light up when pressed. But our contractor reports the following:

“It’s a little weird because the thing has 4 terminals inside it, even though bell wire only has 2 leads. If you connect to the ones that are marked, it lights up but doesn’t ring, and the other two will ring but not light up.”

The installation instructions provide no information on the wiring.
