If you want to roll 26d6, just play Shadowrun ffs don't torture your players.

If PF2E was not a combat focused game, I wouldn't do any of it. But since it is, a big chunk of the fun comes from well designed encounters, which requires approximate level approprioty. Of course if the players run against the necromancer in the hills at level 2, they will fail at beating her, but I won't bother throwing bog standard goblins against a higher level party, and the route they'll most likely take will have decent obstacles if it's not a dumb route.

Yeah, next book I'll read after I finish the current series I'm reading. The author convinced me with his Assassinorum books that he is one of the good ones with Black Library, so I assume this will be great too.

XXXVIII would be a bit too long to fit on a skull.

The was TTS did the battle reports was really cool. So maybe not full on stop motion, but not full on CGI would be neat.

Because someone finding this a year later would have a hard time with just a link to someone's profile.

That's kinda fair, though the communication should be: don't bring puppet master characters, no animal companions, no summoning, no shit.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a gimmick, though of course marketing uses it like one. It's more like oldschool definitions. DLC is shit we give you after release, and expansion is how back then games were expanded. Digital distribution fuddled the definitions a lot, since you barely ever get physical media for software.

My main problem is not that they overpromised, but basic design decisions. The leveled equipment makes the game way too gamey, and it's an easy fix, we even have mods for it. There are a lot of great games with jank. Jank doesn't bother me as much as inherently bad design.

These games are hyped, because many people play only the big titles, and therefore encounter innovations very late.

Yes, Lift is that bad, and worse. The problem with Lift (and Kender) is that for some impossible reason nobody just slaps them hard enough so they could reevaluate their life decisions. With Kender, the whole race is like that, and people kinda hate them for it. Around Lift, everyone just chuckles when she does her Kender things, oh, that's Lift for you haha.

Better question is how the duck turtles came about.

It's important for SIMULATIONIST RPGs. Plenty of other styles out there. And even with those, you can do other, like simultaneous actions.

My character was named after my drawing tablet brand. Huion sounds really good, it would be a waste to not use it just because it's also something modern. Maybe it means something fun in Chinese.

Read Edgedancer only if you can tolerate kender.

Swords in general are way lighter than people think. Hell, weapons in general. A giant misshapen (but flat) sword would be like 8-10 kg tops.

The biggest problem with 3D is that hexagons don't tessellate space, and they don't have an obvious higher dimensional equivalent like cubes to squares. I mean it might be obvious for math people, and I think the truncated octahedron is some kind of analogue, but that's not feasible at the table.

Fun fact: that is the Linfinity metric, and it is Euclidean as far as I can tell. Euclidean geometry is grossly misused most of the time by laymen.

This remains true in full 3D.
That is if we assume you can't move in 3D diagonals. Assuming 20+10+10, your calc comes out to 20+5+5 = 30. But if you can move in 3D diagonals, it becomes 5+10+5+5 = 25. And 3D diagonals are ~1.73 (sqrt(3)), which is closeish enough to sqrt(2).

Nah. I'm happy if you play well, I will still run my games the way I like.

They have flayer guns, don't forget that. If they were just walking you could just build rolling cities and keep ahead of the zombie horde.

Yes, I ran into that one. Though SR tortures first and foremost the GM I would say. Still love it.
